What is All on 4 Dental Implants

What is All on 4 Dental Implants?

Have you ever imagined yourself with a new smile and a fully functional mouth, in just 1 day? For anyone who suffers from missing teeth or poor oral structures, it seems like a dream too good to be real. But today it is possible to achieve it through effective and advanced implantology techniques such as All-on-4.

What does the All-on-4 Treatment consist of?

This is a procedure for placing implants in the jawbone, replacing the roots of teeth for prosthetic placement, imitating natural dentition. Therefore, the objective is to rehabilitate the oral structures, restoring the aesthetics of the mouth and its functionality. The way it does it is different from other types of implantology procedures, which required the placement of several implants to recover an entire dental arch. All-on-four is a technique that consists of fixing only 4 implants in each jaw, which support the fixed prosthesis, offering it a stable base. In other words: with few artificial roots, it manages to restore an entire dental arch.

What advantages does it bring?

The fact that there are only 4 implants fixed in each jaw makes this method a minimally invasive option, bringing advantages such as:
* Shorter treatment time;
* Greater comfort;
* Faster recovery and healing;
* Decreased risk of complications.
* Furthermore, as it allows you to recover self-esteem and masticatory efficiency in a simple way, All-on-4 is considered one of the main Oral Rehabilitation treatments.

Who can benefit from the All-on-four technique?

The placement of implants requires the presence of sufficient bone structure to support them. Thus, with more traditional methods, when there is a lack of maxillary bone, the procedure is not feasible or, alternatively, requires bone grafting.

With the All-on-4 this is not the case, as it allows the placement of implants in areas where there is still enough bone in quantity and quality, taking advantage of it. This means that it can be performed even on people with severe bone atrophy, where the procedure would seem impossible. And more: dispensing grafts!

It may also be indicated for those who suffer from total loss of teeth or for those who still have some, although in poor condition and impossible to recover with treatment, requiring replacement.

It is also necessary that the state of bone maturation is completed and is therefore indicated for adults.

How is the treatment with the All-on-4 method?

1. Assessment and planning
In order to know the clinical condition, as well as its extent and severity, an assessment is carried out based on:

* Diagnostic exams – such as orthopantomograms, radiographs and/or CT scans;
* External or internal photographs of the oral cavity;
* Clinical history.
Afterwards, the treatment is planned with regard to the place of placement and inclination of the implants.

2. Surgery to place the implants
When there are still teeth that require replacement, they are first removed. The next step is the surgical process, which unfolds as follows:

* Administration of anesthetic, making the process painless and comfortable;
* Placement of two implants in the posterior area of the mouth (where there is little bone), with an inclination of about 30 degrees, and two more in the anterior region;
* Fixation of provisional prosthesis on implants;

This is a quick process, lasting a maximum of 6 hours, depending on the clinical condition to be treated. In addition, thanks to the immediate placement of a temporary prosthesis, the results are immediate, having a new smile right after the surgery.

3. Fixation of the definitive fixed prosthesis
When the implant is fully integrated into the jawbone and gum, which may take a few weeks or months, the temporary prosthesis is replaced by a permanent one, manufactured in the laboratory, depending on your characteristics and needs.

4. Post-surgery follow-up
At this stage, you will have to undergo some results monitoring routines, where you will also receive follow-up to have a quick and comfortable recovery. From time to time, you may also need to carry out professional cleanings to keep the oral structures in perfect condition.
