Dental Bonding
in Alexandria, VA
Dental bonding is an easy and popular treatment option if you have space between your teeth, cracked teeth, chips in your teeth, decaying teeth or even if you have exposed roots from other dental conditions. The dental bonding material is made from a composite resin that is strong and can also be shaped to look and feel like your natural teeth. It is not a restorative appliance like a bridge or dental implant, but instead a substance that can be molded to restore the look and function of a tooth or teeth with a common and simple procedure.
The entire team at INSPIRE DENTAL OF ALEXANDRIA shares an office goal. With over three decades of experience, we pride ourselves in being old school when it comes to respecting you and your family and giving you the treatment that we would wish to receive ourselves. Every single patient receives the quality care they deserve. This is the way to earn your trust and satisfaction. Our team is focused on our collaborative efforts to promote oral health by practicing prevention, wellness, enhancement, and renewing rejuvenation. Visit us at 4660 Kenmore Ave., #320, Alexandria, VA 22304 or give us a call today at 703-751-7600 to schedule your appointment to see if you might benefit from a dental bonding procedure.
The Dental Bonding Procedure
Dental bonding treatment is fast, easy, and painless. The first step is for the tooth that needs to be restored to be cleaned and dried. The team at INSPIRE DENTAL OF ALEXANDRIA will apply cleansers and then adhesives to prepare the tooth to receive the dental bonding compound.
This prep work will allow the bonding to adhere and bond to the tooth surface. The resin material is made up of several different components, including a glue-like substance that will attach the resin to the surface of the tooth. We will apply the resin methodically in layers until we have achieved the desired thickness. As we continue to add the resin we can shape and sculpt the putty-like substance to close a gap, rebuild a chip, or whatever the goal and desire might be.
The compound will also be the same color to match the shade of your surrounding teeth, and then the resin is set using a special blue light that will harden the compound quickly. The newly restored tooth will be cleaned and polished, and then trimmed or adjusted to accommodate your bite alignment and your healthy smile. The entire process normally may take one to two hours, depending on the number of teeth that we want to restore with the bonding and the severity of the damage to the tooth or the teeth.
Long Lasting Aesthetics
Dental bonding is not considered a permanent solution; however, it can last quite some time. When your bonding is cared for properly, and when you visit INSPIRE DENTAL OF ALEXANDRIA on a regular basis for preventative exams and touch-ups, your dental bonding can last for many years. Proper care is important and necessary because the dental bonding can begin to discolor over time. If you do not take care of your bonded teeth properly, then you will see discoloration begin to occur. If you have severely damaged teeth, the dental bonding may need to be replaced with another type of restoration later.
RESTORATIVE
DENTISTRY
Even with the best of diligence to maintain your oral health things don’t go as planned. Once in a while, and you might find that your teeth need to be restored or replaced. Missing, cracked, damaged, or even decayed teeth will dull your smile. Did you know it can also affect your oral health? At Inspire Dental of Alexandria we offer restorative dentistry to ensure that your teeth and oral health are back to their former state.
COMSETIC
DENTISTRY
It is important to feel confident in your smile, because being confident in your smile means being confident in yourself. Despite this, many people walk around every day, resigned to the fact that their smile is what it is and there is really nothing they can do to change it. But what if that was not the case? What if improving the aesthetic appearance and/or functionality of your smile was easier than you thought?
IMPLANT
DENTISTRY
Almost 50 million Americans experience tooth-loss every year. Dental bridges have traditionally been the best option if you are in this situation. However, there have been continual technological advancements regarding different types of dental implants. Dental implants are becoming both a common and popular procedure to restore a missing tooth or teeth.
Dental Bonding Vs. Veneers
Dental bonding is designed for use in simple cosmetic improvements that do not impact the function of your teeth or gums in any way. Chips, cracks, gaps, and unwanted spacing are the most common issues that dental bonding can correct. Bonding is different from dental veneers in that veneers are made of layered glass ceramics and fabricated outside of INSPIRE DENTAL OF ALEXANDRIA in a dental lab. The veneer is created to look and feel like your real teeth, and it adheres to your tooth with a bonded cement.
Why Consider Dental Bonding
If you are tired of looking in the mirror at that gap between your front teeth, or if you have become self-conscious about the nasty crack in your tooth, dental bonding can improve the look of your teeth quickly and easily. The longer you delay having any chips or cracks treated, the more risk you pose to your teeth. Cracks and chips can increase and will lead to decay.
When decay or further damage happens, then more invasive procedures will be necessary. It is a smart decision to seek treatment for your cracked or chipped teeth soon. Dental bonding is suitable for your children, teenagers, and adults of all ages.
